Sonya's Patates Braavos: Edition #36 💌🥔
Week of Octobre 13: Toronto, Sinwar, TV, dying sun
TLDR: farm, Italian, Sinwar, the dying sun
welcome 👋
Hello, brave patates! 🥔 Back to Ottawa soon, what are your Halloween plans and costumes?? 🦇
melting pot of recommendations
Riverdale Farm in Toronto is central, free, adorable, and has animals like cows, horses, sheep, piglets, and goats. Across is 1850s gothic cemetery with 36,000 people buried there, including famous Torontonians and politicians.
Nearby is Michelin-guide Italian restaurant Wynona. Never had such flavoured Italian food in Canada. Impressive. We also got a volcanic wine from Azores, which turns out is made on one out of 14 UNESCO World heritage wine sites in the world.
Book: the secret history by Donna Tartt. Catcher in the Rye meets dark academia and murder. Almost like an erudite version of elite with questionable morals disguised under veils of philosophy and ethics.
TV: Ancient Apocalypse by Graham Hancock. Compelling. Convincing. Impressive. I appreciate his commitment and dedication to learning everything about this lost civilization.
BBC's “our universe” is interesting, too. But… did you know our sun is 5 billion years old and will die in 5 more billion years? We're at the 50% point of the sun's life… for some reason I find it's finite life existentially sad.
Private Infrared Sauna and cold Waterfall bucket Suite at Ritual, only 5 credits on ClassPass, very relaxing and nice to be on your own.
Who was Yahya Sinwar that led Hamas and made October 7th happen?
If you got this far, thanks for reading ❤️ cooked something yummy? lmk. went to a cool event or read a fun book? lmk. see you on the flip side 🥔
